Thai Railways serving the East of Thailand
Eastern Train Lines
Thai Railways Eastern Lines travel East through areas between Bangkok and the Cambodian
Border. Most of the popular destinations in Eastern Thailand, such as Ko Chang
and Ko Samet are not accessable by rail and Pattaya has limited rail access.
There is generally faster, more frequent bus service to these areas. Thai Railways
Eastern Line branches off into two main lines at Chachoeng Sao Junction. The
North Eastern Line goes to Aranyaprathet, on the Cambodian Border, and the East
Coastal Line goes to Sattahip, Pattaya, and Mab Taphud, on the Gulf of Thailand
Coast. All Eastern Lines Include Makkasan Station.
- Aranyaprathet - rail access to Cambodian Border coming soon
- Sattahip - East Coast Line Depot and Port City
- Pattaya - Popular 'Party Central' Beach Resort City near Bangkok coming soon

Most of the destinations on Thai Railways Eastern Coastal Line are close to Bangkok. Bus travel is often more convenient and faster than train travel, especially if someone wants to return to Bangkok the same day. Aranyaprathet is the most popular land crossing into Cambodia, convenient for onward travel to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat). At the time of writing, there was no weekend train service to/from Pattaya.
